Dhansak is the all-time favourite dish of the Parsis-Zoroastrians who fled religious persecution in Iran, during the eighth century, and settled in India. The ‘national’ dish of Parsis, Dhansak is probably the most satisfying of curries. A lip-smacking melange of vegetables, lentils and rice, Dhansak is nice and medium hot with a fruity sweetness absorbed by the lentils.
Best served with basmati rice tossed with fried chopped/sliced onion and finely chopped pistachio nuts, Dhansak offers you a wonderful thick, delicious and savoury potpourri.
