Panch Phoran 

Panch Phoran is a popular Bengali mixed spice, made from 5 of the most commonly used exotic whole spices, with 'panch' meaning five in Bengali. 

The Panch Puran, Whole 5 spice mix, is also known as 'Sizzling Seeds' or 'Tempering Spice' as it is usually fried in hot ghee or oil and will begin to sizzle and 'pop', to which other ingredients are then added to cook.
